satisfied

How good to gradually discover that the deepest longings of my heart can be met in one 100%-reliable relationship. How life-changing and life-giving to learn that my longings* for

~ significance (to know my life matters)

~ belonging (to have an unearned, always available seat at the table of some family)

~ security (to feel safe emotionally as well as physically)

~ understanding (to be seen and to make sense to someone)

~ love (to be completely accepted and faithfully tended)      

~ purpose (to know I’m contributing)

are not evidence of a hopelessly self-centered heart or shameful neediness, but of God-designed wiring that leads me to The One Who Is Love.

Gracious One,

this is what you are teaching me:

You formed me and assigned me value.

I am significant.

You have named me and called me Yours.

I belong.

You guide me patiently, never shaming or blaming.

I am secure.

You see me—fully, truly, and compassionately.

I am understood.

You kindly accept and nurture me, no matter what.

I am loved.

You invite me to help You extend the Realm of Love.

I have a life-long purpose.

You want to and will tend my heart.

I am satisfied. 

Every time I give You the chance, every time I open to You in my neediness, you fill my little-baby-robin heart again, making it more resilient, strong enough to fly.

no longer driven by the fear of insignificance,

less worried about belonging among ‘the admired,’

freed from fretting about being enough,

graced with friends who offer understanding,

more relaxed in unconditional love, and

finding sweet purpose in ‘loving in all directions,’

I fly.

Not solo though.

Never again solo, You reminding me.

I fly with the Spirit,

my grace-soaked heart

pulsing steady with joy,

a free-flowing channel of

the Goodness I’ve come to know.

I fly on the Wind,

free to glide, to sing

slow blues or bright tunes,

or any old made-up song at all,

to the Satisfier of my heart.
